Owner & Head Goalkeeper Coach
"My coaching philosophy is to develop resilient, confident people who can think, adapt, and lead in both the game and life.”
- Dorian Lair
Dorian’s soccer career started in his youth, where he developed his craft with FC Shoreline and Emerald City FC, playing under Seattle soccer legend Peter Fewing. His passion for the game carried through to Shorewood High School, where he stood out as a top goalkeeper. From there, he played at Edmonds College under head coach Brandon Mitalas, continuing to refine his skills before making the jump to Warner Pacific University in Portland, where he played for the late, great Bernie Fagen.
His college career prepared him for higher-level competition, and he went on to play with Portland Spartans and FC Mulhouse Portland (NPSL), St. Petersburg Aztecs (UPSL), and Snohomish County Steelheads FC (CPL). The grind of competing at high levels shaped his approach to the game, always stay sharp, always adapt, and never be afraid to get your gloves dirty.
Hanging up the gloves (well, mostly), Dorian turned to coaching, passing on what he learned to the next generation of keepers. He’s coached at Warner Pacific University, Hillsboro SC, Salmon Creek SC, Snohomish United, and West Seattle Junction (USL League 2), and currently leads goalkeeper development as Director of Goalkeeping for Sound FC.
His coaching philosophy? Technical excellence, mental toughness, and game intelligence, because standing in front of a ball traveling at 70 mph requires more than just bravery (though that helps too). His structured yet adaptable training methods have helped countless goalkeepers level up their game, with many going on to play at the collegiate and professional levels.
Dorian isn’t just about what happens on the field, he’s also built businesses that help grow the game. As the founder of Lair Athletics, he’s created a premier goalkeeper training academy that prepares keepers to thrive under pressure and perform at their best when it counts.
He also owns and runs Snohomish County Football Club, where he oversees recruitment, community engagement, and operations. Whether it’s shaping the team’s strategy or building connections with the community, he’s ensuring the club continues to grow and make an impact.
Off the field, Dorian has used his skills in business analytics, marketing, and digital strategy to elevate soccer organizations. He’s directed marketing and outreach for Soccer Post Northwest, optimized club operations, and brought a data-driven approach to player development programs.
With expertise in platforms like Salesforce, Google Analytics, and Jira, he bridges the gap between sports and business, making sure soccer organizations are running as smoothly off the field as they are on it.
Dorian’s impact in soccer goes far beyond wins and losses. Whether he’s coaching, mentoring, managing, or building, he’s dedicated to pushing the sport forward and helping players reach new heights.
Through coaching, club leadership, and strategic innovation, he’s not just keeping the game moving. he’s making sure it evolves. And if you ever want to chat about soccer, goalkeeping, or why keepers are the toughest players on the field, he’s always up for it.
